Hermit

I make a swift exit once the feeling becomes obligatory. Compassion comes naturally without force but once I feel the reigns begin to tighten I become stifled. Maybe it’s from years of being more like property than partners. I wanted it so at the time but then everything shifted suddenly.

I resist change in this regard. I believe I’m stronger this way; in charge of my own destiny if you will. Biding time until the angel that I see up in the night sky decides I’ve paid my dues and graces me with affection; with the pure nectar I’ve done penance for.

“Say good bye before you leave,” he says.

“Why?” I blurt out unconsciously.

Silence takes the room. There are an infinite combination of words to choose from but it’s the look in your eyes that says it all.

Don’t let illusion cloud your judgement, the distance is undoubtedly false. Close your eyes and in your mind you will see that we have traveled through lifetimes together and here we are again, afraid to let go for a moment even though we are eternally inseparable.
